What data we collect

When you create and use a FirstGrind account, we collect:

• Account details: your name, email address, and password (stored as a secure hash).
• Workout data: exercises, plans, logged sets/reps/weight/duration, streaks, badges, and body measurements you choose to record.
• Profile settings: training days, reminder preferences, and whether your profile is public or private.
• Social activity: follows and any comments you post, if you use those features.
• Push notification tokens, if you enable notifications, so we can send you reminders.
• Basic technical data such as IP address and device/browser information, for security and troubleshooting.

Why we process this data

• To provide the core service: tracking your workouts, plans, and progress (performance of our contract with you).
• To send account-related emails (verification, password resets) and, if enabled, workout reminders.
• To keep the service secure and prevent abuse (our legitimate interest).
• To comply with legal obligations where applicable.

Sharing your data

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with service providers who help us run FirstGrind, such as our hosting provider, our email delivery provider, and Apple/Google push notification services (to deliver reminders to your device). These providers only process data on our instructions.

If you set your profile to public, your name and workout activity visible on the social features (feed, follows) can be seen by other FirstGrind users.

How long we keep your data

We keep your account and workout data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from your profile settings, which permanently removes your personal data from our systems, except where we are legally required to retain it.

Your rights

Under the GDPR/AVG, you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Correct inaccurate data (most fields can be edited directly in your profile).
• Delete your account and data.
• Export your data in a portable format.
• Object to or restrict certain processing, and withdraw consent where processing is based on consent (e.g. push notifications).
• Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority (in the Netherlands: the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).

Cookies and similar technologies

The FirstGrind website uses strictly necessary cookies to keep you logged in and to protect against cross-site request forgery. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies. The native app stores your login session securely on your device instead of using cookies.

Children

FirstGrind is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16.

Security

We use industry-standard measures — including encrypted connections (HTTPS), password hashing, and access controls — to protect your data. No system is completely secure, but we work to keep your data safe.

Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Significant changes will be announced within the app or by email. The date at the top of this page reflects the latest update.
